Work is about to start on the long discussed Weston Creek Dog Park on the corner of Eucumbene Drive and Warragamba Avenue. You can already see security fencing near the entrance track.
At an on-site meeting on 24 November the Project Manager said that he proposed to have the planned vehicle entrance drive way with the equestrian crossing completed by January. To achieve this he will have to close off the width of the verge between the bitumen and the dog park area. If you really want to ride on the hill you will have to use the Warragamba Avenue roadway to ride around the security fencing. It is annoying but there are only 4 weeks to Christmas and then the verge will reopen to horses while they undertake the rest of the project. They do not expect to start work on the dog park itself until February. When that happens they will have lollypop persons to manage the construction vehicles and to assist horse riders crossing the road. So there will be all of January to test out the new crossing!
ACTEA is talking to the Project Manager about which conflict between cars, dogs and horses can be minimised during and after construction. They are not expecting to be working on the weekends but this may change if weather holds them up.
