The Cork Oaks in the Arboretum have turned 100 so there is going to be a mini festival. There will be a lot going on including music and singing, Mediterranean dancing, guided walks and family activities. Food vans and stalls will be also on site.
It could be very colourful and noisy. If your horse is not into colour and noise it might be best to give the northern end of the Arboretum a miss for the day. To avoid vehicle traffic in a small area on the day the car park near the Cork Oaks will only be used by small buses ferrying people from the general carpark at the Visitors’ Centre.
All the activity will take place in the Cork Oaks themselves. The Arboretum is asking that anyone on horses back who finds themselves in the area on Sunday stay off the tracks and in the native woodland closer to the eastern fence line parallel to the Parkway. Once you are through the cavaletti, cross the road away from the carpark where you have good sightlines before heading up the hill to the Himalayan Pines.
The Arboretum has provided the attached mud mapof the days activities to help.
